What is CGPA and How Does CGPA Converter Works?

What is CGPA?

Cumulative Grade Point Average, or CGPA in short, is a grading system of measuring a student’s Performance in academics. This system was initially adopted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to measure a student’s Performance and later on adopted by the majority of Indian Universities.

CGPA summarizes all your grade points obtained during the course or Program and assigns a single number value for easy understanding. CGPA is calculated on three different scales: 0 to 4,0 to 5, or 0 to 10. Amongst which grading on 10 scales is widely followed in Indian schools and Universities.

Now, come to the point of how CGPA is calculated. It’s simple, let’s explain it in simple steps.

No doubt, a lot of tools are available for CGPA conversions, but this is dedicated to conversions related to your academics. This tool is developed by our expert team to ensure you get 100% accuracy in less time. If you are a student, a teacher, this is made for you.

How the Calculator Works?

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. Identify your grade point for each subject.
    • Grades like A+, A, B+, etc., are converted to numerical grade points (e.g., A+ = 10, A = 9, etc.).
  2. Multiply each grade point by the credit for the subject.
    • For example, if a subject has 4 credits and you got an A (grade point 9):
      4×9=364 \times 9 = 364×9=36
  3. Do this for all subjects.
  4. Add all the products (Grade Point × Credit).
  5. Add all the credits.
  6. Divide the total from step 4 by the total credits.

Why Convert CGPA to Percentage?

There might be several occasions when you are asked about your Percentage instead of CGPA. Not everyone accepts CGPA, because the Percentage is more easily understandable.

Another reason that makes percentages easier for comparison where different grading systems are used, just like in India. This tool saves you time from calculating manually.
